The Groundhogs, "Bog Roll Blues"

Spending New Year's Day on a bluesy—and trippy, psychedelic—tip with the Groundhogs' Who Will Save the World? from 1972. The great Neal Adams drew the cover, so if the line quality and composition looks familiar, that's why.

It's not a concept album, per se, but it's built around themes addressing overpopulation, pollution, war, so... timely? I'm reaching for an explanation as to why I've landed on this LP for January 1, but I don't think there is one. In any event, it's a strong piece, so check it out, and if you're new to them, turn to earlier stuff, too, like Thank Christ for the Bomb.
