Country Teasers

Country Teasers, of Edinburgh, make wiry, art-damaged four-track junkyard punk. B.R. Wallers, frontman, sounds like a Mark E. Smith working on his enunciation, though his lyrics, crass, crude, unfiltered, can be unsettling, even if you accept them as ironic admonishments of our hypocritical society, satires. As mangled and sick as it all might be, it scratches at the intellect and begs to be picked apart (witness: "Black Change").

Where does the mockery end and the sincere beliefs begin? Maybe best to just stare down the abyss, not leap into it, as the ratchety burnout country cling-clangs along.
